Hallelujah!

It is finally raining! It's been the hottest in TN history, and we've been experiencing a drought, we were in bad need of rain. Balloons were popping on the grass, and you couldn't walk on it barefoot.
So thank you Lord for sending us some rain!

I'm so jealous! I want rain, too. Maybe it's on its way up here.

My wife got home last night, after a long day of work, and asked if we could eat at a restaurant (we don't do this often any more because we're trying very hard to save, and be good stewards of our money). We were both tired, so I decided to take her out and treat her to a meal.

We were at the Applebee's in Spring Hill when the storm hit. Holy mackerel! The winds must have been at least 50 MPH or more. They lost power for several minutes, we saw a number of ambulances and firetrucks go whizzing by, and the rain came down in buckets! When it came time to leave, I ran to the car so I could drive close to the front door to pick up my wife, and I was literally sopping wet. The water in the parking lot couldn't drain fast enough, and was about six inches deep -- my shoes were soaked. Highway 31 in downtown Spring Hill had standing water on the road (in front of the Exxon station), about two feet deep -- if our car had stalled going through it, it would have been totaled (thankfully it didn't stall -- if I'd realized how deep it was when I started into the water, I probably would have waited or gone around it!). There was debris everywhere on the roads, and several large trees down in Spring Hill.

So anyway, today I'm actually going to mow and stuff. The grass is a little greener today, and the dust is less after a good rain, so it's not as bad mowing (we have 1 1/2 acres, so I have to spend a few hours on the riding mower, plus use the push mower in areas the rider can't reach).

I guess when the Lord decides to bring an end to a horrible drought, He doesn't mess around. :-)

I drove through a tornando storm in Nebraska and it was the craziest rain I have ever seen. It sounds like a lot of the country got hit pretty hard. It was crazy but very cool at the same time. I love the smell of fresh rain.

Sarah, maybe it is headed your way, if it is, look out!

C Ham~ oh my gosh! I definitely wouldn't have wanted to be out in it last night, that is crazy. I had to run outside briefly and got soaked in the process.

Jessie~ how scary... hope you are staying safe, and taking pictures!
